The Curse Of Football Manager

The curse of football manager!

In 2008 Everton announced a partnership with football manager in a move that would allow them to use the games database as a scouting network in what seemed like an intriguing idea.

The game has brought us some quality players over the course of its life.  Freddy Guarin, Kim Kallstrom and Tim Sparv to name a few but for every exceptional talent plucked from the databases there are many who despite the talk fail to make the grade. None more so than Fredy Adu the boy who aged 14 exploded on the world stage.

How bright the future was for this player he was dubbed the next Pele by those in the know and on football manager he had all the makings as being the best there would ever be. Unfortunately nearly 10 years later and the hype has definitely not been lived upto Adu is currently plying his trade on loan with Bahia after being told that he was no longer part of the plans at Philidelphia Union.

So a player once touted as the future face of a American football now finds himself struggling to break into a team who finished 15th in the Brazilian league last season. Of course he is still only 23 and some may say his better years are ahead of him but it seems this is just another example of the curse of football manager a curse that has struck many a superstar since championship manager launced 20 years ago.

Such players as:

Kennedy Bakircioglu, Mark Kerr, To Madeira, Fabio Paim, Cherno Samba, Maxim Tsigalko, Tonton Zola Moukoko, Jonas Lunden, Alex Notman, Ibrahim Said and Ryan Williams to name some but the list goes on and on…

Who will the curse strike next?
